A quick grounding practice to reconnect with your center
Listen along here…
“Grounding to reconnect with your center” meditation starts at 5:11 minutes
Hello Dear Intuitive One,
When I was just 15, I had a vivid dream visitation from Neptune. While I lay deeply asleep, he stomped up my driveway...Boom! boom! boom!
With each step he took closer to the house the more intensely everything shook. Photos fell off the walls, books from shelves, even my bed felt more like a trampoline than mattress…..BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
When he arrived outside of my bedroom he pried open the roof as effortlessly as if he was taking the roof off a doll house and then he leaned into my room blocking out the moon and the stars with his giant presence.
He gazed deeply into my eyes with a wild beard and heavy crown as he conveyed quite loudly this juicy morsel of wisdom to me, "Look at your feet girl!!", with which he slammed the roof back on the house and stomped slowly back down the driveway.
Neptune rules spirituality, intuition and all things subtle, and this dude made quite the impression on me as a young person.
As I grew into an adult this potent visitation helped shape my work too.
His words have remained front and center in everything I do including communicating with animals and taking deep soul journeys to the edges of the known universe and beyond. Through it all I’ve held his words close to my heart to help me remember to…
Stay in my body,
Keep it grounded,
Listen from within my body,
Remain centered,
And when in doubt, stressed or facing something big check back in with my feet.
Neptune’s words still ring true
More than ever I’ve been coming back to the memory of this dream visitation to gather up the tendrils of its power, because lately it’s felt like our human collective has hit The Wall of Enoughness. We’ve had all we can take. Our cups are empty, our resilience is low and our connection with our grounding can feel threadbare.
Whew!
Even as I reflect on the turbulence of the past few years I can feel my breath tightening and my shoulders tensing towards my ears!
There are times to push through, and there are times when a short pause before moving forward is warranted. Pausing first ensures we don’t drown out our inner voice, ignore our needs, fragment from our center or leave our truest-selves behind as we move forward.
Not unlike the turbulent times I experienced at the young age of 15, when Neptune arrived in my dreams. It seems, collectively, we’re at a point where to go forward, it would be wise to pause first and look at our feet.
Pause and notice the solid ground we are standing on.
Pause and give our breath permission to breathe.
Pause and notice what we feel in our body rather than rushing forward.
Pause and reconnect with our center.
Mediation: Refocusing your attention back to your center
I’d love to share a mini grounding practice with you so you can put Neptune’s words to action in your own life to help you ground and slow down.
*** You can listen along to this meditation by clicking the dark blue audio button at the top of this post ***
I invite you to give yourself a moment of pause. Let your breath reset so it can flow freely again.
Feel the support under you and soften your gaze.
Let your over-active physical and intuitive senses rest for a moment.
Take in less information from the world around you. Settle back into your own skin.
To help you arrive even more deeply back into the now, wiggle your fingers. Perhaps tighten your hands and then release. Perhaps lift your shoulders towards your ears and then release.
If you can, kick off your shoes and look at your feet. If you’re at a “no shoes, no service” type of establishment, (like at the airport!) keep your shoes on, and just look at your feet. Now wiggle your toes! Scrunch your toes inward and then release them bringing more flow to your digits.
Feel the ground supporting you, its strength firmly under your feet.
Perhaps speak a few kind words of gratitude for all the things your feet help you do, like stand, walk, pause, dance, and play.
To finish this meditation, give yourself a moment to check back in with yourself. Check in with your needs, your energy level, your feelings. And ask yourself this vital question… “What can I shift within myself so I can meet the present moment with my full embodied presence?”.
Thanks for tuning in with me today,
XO
