How to manage emotions for better animal communication
Listen along here…
Hello Dear Intuitive One,
We recently had a ton of snow where I live and then it got really cold. For a few evenings it dropped below 9° which is rare in this part of the world. I’m such a lover of snow and ice and have been so giddy because of this cold blast, I didn’t even think how deeply it might affect our two-comfort loving old dogs, who without hesitation would choose a snuggle on a sofa over a winter wonderland wilderness adventure, paws down - every time.
On one of these wickedly cold quick trips outside, just before bed potty trips, something happened that reminded me of just how challenging it can be to hear our own animals when we are stressed and worried, and what’s needed to overcome it.
On this quick trip outside, Raspberry got a crazy look on her face, lifted two of her paws off the ground and then just fell over onto her side into a snowbank (don’t worry, she is okay, this isn’t that kind of story).
Steve and I were beside ourselves with panic.
We scooped up this giant 85-pound girl and brought her inside. How we managed to carry her inside I am still not sure.
Once inside and warmed up, she was totally fine and ready to cozy into bed for the night. However, the next morning it happened again.
And, just like the first time, we were beyond panicked.
However, this second time, I was able to let go of the fear and emotional clutter just in time to hear Raspberry using intuitive animal communication.
Stressed-out, Raspberry proclaimed, “MY FEETS!!!” while toppling over in the snowbank lifting her paws as high off the ground as possible. She flashed me the sensation of all four paws being totally numb, frozen and stinging.
Ah ha! Of course!
I swooped down and rubbed her paws vigorously with my mittens and sure enough, her feet warmed up, she was able to stand up and walk to the door.
Being able to hear our animals using animal communication takes a lot of practice. But even more than practice, it takes a willingness to get out of your head and let go of all of your emotional clutter that muddies things up and clogs your intuitive circuitry.
This level of letting go isn’t easy.
To assure I'm clear enough to hear animals clearly in communication sessions and in situations like with Raspberry’s frozen FEETS, I rely on the same kind of energetic boundary practices I share in my six-week program, Reclaiming Center. And… I'm excited to share a mini version with you.
How energetic boundaries help you communicate with animals
In that moment, it was the energetic boundary practice that allowed me to quiet my mind, let go of my fear and be present enough to hear Raspberry clearly when she fell over in the snow.
The cool thing about energetic boundary practices is that they help us get really, really present. Which makes letting go of all the mind and worst-case-scenario shit easy-breezy, because all of that nonsense just isn’t applicable or needed in the present moment.
Short and Sweet Energetic Boundary Presence Practice:
I’d love to share an easy and basic boundary practice with you today. This practice is a great general energetic hygiene practice and it’s fantastic for times of stress so you can be the calm in the storm. (Remember you can listen to this as a guided meditation using the audio link at the top of this post)
Place a hand on your heart and a hand on your belly to help you tune-in with the movement of your breath.
Let this movement of your breath guide you in reconnecting you to your body and anchoring your whole being to the present moment.
Practice breathing into this sense of deep presence and extending it through your body and energy to fill your personal space with your own presence. Fill your front body, your back body, your feet and your crown with your presence.
A fun image I like to use is imagining myself puffing up with my presence, like a blowfish. Sometimes I even imagine hearing the “poof”, as I do fill myself up with my own energy, front to back, side to side above and below me, all at once.
When you feel fully present, sense into your personal edges… notice where you end and the energy of the present moment begins. This edge is your energetic boundary and is where all the magic happens, including the intuitive connections that allow for amazing things like animal communication. Perhaps give yourself a few moments to feel what it’s like to be cocooned in this safe chrysalis of your energetic boundary.
To finish sense again into your hands holding your belly and heart and welcome yourself back home to the present moment.
Feels better right?
Thanks for tuning in with me today,
XO
Joanna
Two books that will help you reclaim your center and create amazing boundaries
If we have learned anything the past few years, it’s that having the skills to be present to respond rather than react is the key to not losing it. And to help you do more of this, I’ve got two books full of illustrations and energy exercises to help you put it all into practice in ways that feel easy.
“Energetic Boundaries 101” Gives you the foundational basics with playful full-color illustrations and easy to follow boundary practices to use right away. It’s like a single scoop ice cream cone with sprinkles.
“When Spirit and Earth Meet” gives you everything you need to create healthy natural energetic boundaries with your presence, breath and intent and take your energetic hygiene self-care to a whole new level. Think of this like dark chocolate cake topped with ganache and vanilla bean ice cream.
