What a frog taught me about bravery

What wild animal visitors

can teach you about yourself and what questions to ask so you can know what their visits mean.

Plus: I’m announcing something big!

If you’d rather listen…

Hello Dear Intuitive One,

There’s a new little amphibian friend in my back garden.

He made a pretty dramatic entrance too.  As dog friends Raspberry and Whiskey were heading into the garage for their afternoon cookie (it’s a thing around here!) I noticed a pretty large frog was riding on Raspberry’s back before leaping onto the garage door with an intentional *splat*, landing right at my eye level, and started b l i n k i n g   v e r y   s l o w l y at me. (You can see a photo of this little frog below in the animal talk section of this note)

Since this little frog's abrupt and quite hilarious entrance, he has taken up residence right outside my studio window where he sings his sweet little heart out  early in the morning and late in the evening. As frogs go, this little one sings like a human toddler colors outside of the lines in coloring books. Beautiful in its own way, perfect because it is.

Now I should mention that this little frog arrived just a few days before the autumn equinox, at the same time that I was mustering up some BIG courage to do something really brave.

Something I’ve been wanting to do for so long…

And each time I wavered about going forward with my project, there this little frog was, right outside my window, chirping and croaking away.

Insight Timer Meditation Announcement!

This big project I’ve been working on is to share full length guided meditations with you on Insight Timer.

In truth, it’s felt like this little frog friend has been singing and chirping outside my window to cheer me on with his ‘uniquely perfectly imperfect songs’ — a reminder that we don’t have to be perfect to share what’s in our hearts.

Our presence and our light will shine through.

If you don’t know about Insight Timer, it’s a free app with meditations and talks from all kinds of practices, and I am one of the teachers now featured on the platform. Insight timer is free to sign up and free to access the meditations and guided intuitive journeys I offer there. If you haven't checked out the app before, I have a feeling you are really going to love it. You can get the free app in your app store or find them online, once you’re there look me up using the little yellow button bellow.

So with the help of my new little tree frog friend, I’d love to invite you to cozy up and join me on Insight Timer for a meditative bedtime ceremony called “Rest easy in the stillness of autumn and winter ” by following this link (you’re going to want to listen to this one as close to bedtime as possible!)

Spirit Animal Talk

What does it mean when wildlife visits you?

When we have a close encounter with wildlife, like the little frog that showed up in my garden (riding on the back of Raspberry the dog!),  it can be too easy to get in our heads (or jump on the internet) to look up what it means for us.

I believe that animal symbolism is much like dream symbolism, in that a boat in one person's dream may mean something very different in someone else's dreams. What it all means depends on so many things including what’s going on for you and in your life at this time.

The next time a unique animal shows up for you, before jumping on Google to try to figure it all out, I invite you to sit with it a while. Explore what unique qualities this animal has that you can learn from that feels relevant to you at this point in your life.

Explore with childlike wonder.

Perhaps even have a conversation in your heart with the animal visiting you to ask them what their strengths and weaknesses are.

And above all else, listen to what your own heart tells you about what inner strengths you're ready to uncover, reclaim and embody that this animal can help guide you towards. My new little frog friend’s dramatic entrance of riding on Raspberry’s back, reminded me that I don't need to reinvent the wheel. It’s okay to leapfrog off of what's in front of me to shorten the learning curve of creating these meditations. To top it all off, his incredibly wonky off key tune offers the precious reminder that everyone has to start somewhere and perfect is, simply because it is.

Thanks for tuning in with me today,

XO

Joanna

P.S. If your struggling to talk with your animal friends, I’d love to help you have a proper conversation with them!
